Job Description:

JOB FUNCTION:

Working within the project team-based framework this position has a mandate to coordinate all aspects of scope, cost and schedule management ensuring timely and accurate reporting and interface management between Primavera Scheduling Software and the Prism Project Management System.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This scope shall (The following is being executed as a contract scope of work):

  • Accountable for the integration of cost control and planning activities to establish an overall cost and schedule baseline for the project and steward using Earned Value Management techniques.
  • Provide project controls coordination with respect to scope execution, ensuring that all utilized systems are fully functional and integrated to allow for effective performance management.
  • Assist in the development and/or modification of Project Control Processes and Procedures to ensure best practices are being implemented.
  • Coordinate Management of Change functions utilizing the Project's Change Management system to ensure all potential changes are recorded and analyzed for validity and approved changes implemented.
  • Responsible to ensure general awareness and usage of project controls within the  project.
  • Provide support to scope owners to develop and manage their scope of work within the framework of the Project Master Schedule.
  • Ensure that accurate and timely updates and forecast information is available to scope owners through complete functional integration of the Primavera Planning Software and the Prism Project Management System utilizing the earned value capability of Prism.
  • Work with cost control and supply chain management to establish and effectively manage commercial arrangements required with third party contractors to execute assigned scopes of work.
  • Analyze contractors' progress and cost reporting for accuracy.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

     • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Technology Diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

     • 5 - 10 years in a project coordination role or project engineer.
     • Planning / Scheduling experience using Primavera (P6 preferred).
     • Project experience in project controls discipline and cost engineering.
     • Experience with contract management.

     • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to safety, health and environmental issues.
     • Demonstrated project leadership skills combined with general business knowledge and in-depth analytical skills.      • Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate the efforts of others to foster a team approach to accomplish objectives.      • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
     • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel and other
        industry partners.
     • Good working knowledge of project management practices.
     • In-depth working knowledge project controls best practices.
     • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
     • Scheduling experience using Primavera software.
     • Team player with positive attitude.
     • Self-starter who is highly motivated and seeks out challenging assignments.
     • Works effectively in work groups with ability to maintain positive relationships with peers, contractors,
        superiors, customers and subordinates.
