Job Description:
Responsibilities and duties:
- Provide overall instrumentation and controls engineering technical leadership and expertise
- Steward the detail design contractor's activities with respect to instrumentation including:

Instrumentation engineering inputs to detail design deliverables
-
Development of instrumentation logic and loop diagrams
-
Development and design of the I&C system
-
Development of the schedule, recommended deliverables, and labor hour estimate for instrumentation
- Measurement and reporting of engineering progress
-
Selection, specification, and inspection of instrumentation components
-
Procurement of tagged items including preparation of specifications, vendor recommendations, etc.
-
Instrumentation estimates for weight control report, as needed for modularization/transportation

Implementation of project standard instrumentation design for consistency with other areas
- Review, evaluate, and advise:
-
Instrument specifications, logic and loop diagrams
-
Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project. Reviews completed
design for correctness, compliance, and operability
-
Operability of the unit or plant for start-up, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes. Reviews or sets
design basis for abnormal operating conditions
-
Technical bid tabulations for instruments and instrumentation systems
-
Provide planning input for shop tests and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and protocols
- Participate in I&C technical specification preparation
- Participate in Hazard Operability (HAZOP) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assessment reviews
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
• Thorough and extensive knowledge of:
- Instrumentation and controls engineering principles, theories, and concepts
- Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices
• Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of Instrumentation hardware
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
• 15+ years of closely related practical engineering experience, 3+ years of which should be at the Senior
Instrument Engineer level
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
