Job function:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for broad technical oversight of the contractor's mechanical engineering effort. Gains alignment with the Facilities Lead on engineering needs, objectives, and requirements for developing the Project Design Basis.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Provide overall mechanical engineering leadership and expertise
- Gain alignment with the Facilities Lead on engineering needs, objectives, and requirements
- Conduct project team member briefing sessions with respect to engineering requirements and processes
- Provide the engineering data (narrative, charts, graphs, etc.) required for the monthly progress report
- Authorize design alternative studies, as required, to optimize project cost and schedule
- Act as single point liaison on design basis for component(s) with contractor and Client functions
- Participate as appropriate in design/operability/constructability reviews, risk assessments
- Capture and communicate engineering and design lessons learned for the project
- Advise the contractor's engineering and design organization with respect to:

Contractor's engineering and design procedures, processes, and deliverables

Contractor's staffing, including staffing plans, and personnel suitability and adequacy
- Steward the contractor's activities with respect to engineering execution including:

Ensuring that all affected parties are familiar with execution plans, procedures, objectives

Ensuring that the contractor staffs the project with adequate numbers of qualified personnel

Ensuring that the contractor employs the appropriate design tools, including computer hardware and
software

Ensuring that the contractor adheres to all appropriate specifications and standards

Ensuring that the contractor provides all contract documents, including those referred to in the job spec.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
• Extensive knowledge of offsites:
- Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
- Onshore facilities and structures design, construction, and operations
- Client practices, processes, and expectations with respect to facilities engineering
• Bachelors Degree in an engineering, preferably Mechanical
• 10+ years experience in crude oil and gas producing facilities design and operation.
• Experience in coordinating engineering contractor and change management desired.
• Must be able to interface with others outside the Facilities Group to help determine whether or not design
objectives/deliverables are being met
