Job Description:

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Project Engineer has proprietorship of management of CAPEX budget assignments and acts as scope manager for approved Change Requests.

Included within the scope of the role are:

  • Work with Production Operations and Facilities and Support Systems Engineering in developing and defining capital projects.
  • Act as Scope Manager for assigned Maintenance projects.
  • Develop, in consultation with Business Unit Technical staff and Operations personnel, project specific objectives on cost, schedule and quality.
  • Manage the design, procurement, and construction of each project using the Modifications Management and Management of Change processes and with the Key Performance Indicators set out for Projects.
  • Manage long term study projects in support of SubSurface capacity improvement or Production Operations operability initiatives.
  • Manage the engineering plan for modifications.
  • Ensure that project development is consistent with sound economic principles.
  • Communicate all relevant project information to all stakeholders on a timely basis and ensure long-term retention of relevant project data.
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate engineering contractors, vendors and service providers for each project.
  • Participate in long-term initiatives within Operations Engineering that will enhance the work processes within the department.
  • Keep current on new technologies and identify opportunities to improve capital projects through technological innovations.
  • Ensure that all projects are undertaken safely and within all regulatory requirements.
  • Participate on the Emergency Response Planning team, as assigned.  This may include carrying a pager on a rotational basis.


Qualifications:


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• Professional Engineer with B.E. / B.Sc. or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 to 10 years petroleum experience.
• Eligibility for membership in the Association for Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland (PEG-NL). • Project engineering experience in the operation and/or design of oil and gas facilities.
• Offshore operational project engineering experience an asset.
• Sound understanding of economic principles and methodology.

• Proven skills in effectively managing multiple tasks, often under pressure and within time constraints.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment that includes dealing with people from
   various disciplines and others outside of the formal organization (e.g. service providers, vendors, contractors), to
   achieve goals, and identify and resolve problems.
• Superior communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills sufficient to convey both factual and
   conceptual information requiring detailed explanation and interpretation to staff, professional and business groups.
• Problem-solving orientation to identify key issues and recommend appropriate solutions in a proactive manner.
• Exceptional analytical skills to identify key issues based on relevant data and provide appropriate solutions/
   recommendations.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and exceed established goals, schedules, and deadlines.



Travel / Other:

MEDICAL (PHYSICAL) REQUIREMENTS/STANDARDS:

Candidate will be required to travel offshore to supervise systems commissioning and assist with process diagnostics as required.  They should be fit and will require medical assessment for clearance to travel offshore.

OTHER TRAINING:

Training as per East Coast offshore requirements.
