Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Provide knowledge, direction and leadership to the mine planning team
• Ensure detailed mine and tailings planning is completed on schedule and within budget
• Ensure project deliverables are of a high quality and completed to the appropriate level of detail
• Liaise with the other consultants and stakeholders on design issues
• Provide single point contact between consultant and client
• Ensure that all contractor queries are answered in a timely manner and communicated to key
stakeholders
• Engage technical staff in design assumptions and validations as required and agreed by the
Project Manager
• Provide input to and manage the results of RAM studies completed on the prject
• Keep all stakeholders informed of the progress of the work and pending issues for resolution
• Ensure the study schedule is routinely updated and fed into the master project schedule
• Produce routine schedule, budget and progress reports as agreed with the Project Manager
• Contribute to a Scope of Work for a contractor to undertake FEED for the Project
• Contribute to a Project Execution Plan for the project focusing on the design,
construction, commissioning and start up of the mine facilities and supporting utilities
• Contribute to contract provisions for the FEED contractor. Support contract EOI, RFQ,
negotiation, and execution as required generally focused upon technical definition and
provisions associated with controls and commissioning.
• Present, produce, review, and manage the production of presentations to Management,
Internal departments, External organizations relating to the concept and optimization of the
Project deliverables.
• Participate in internal and external project reviews, HAZID and HAZOP analysis and resolution
of issues.
• Contribute to progress reports for weekly and monthly reporting
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 8-15 years relevant experience in relation to mine planning and operations
• Experience in minerals processing operations and at least 5 years related to bitumen production
• Experience in Oil Sands Operations and Commissioning
• Previous experience in contract management
• Experience of Pre-Feed Development, Design, Engineering and construction management and
operational support for Oil Sands
• Sound working knowledge of Northern Alberta working conditions, design and construction
requirements
• Sound working knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes and regulations applicable to
the Oil Sands in Northern Alberta
SPECIFIC SKILLS/COMPEETENCIES:
• Capability of working in managerial role, or part of a team organization
• Computer literate in MS Office software products
• Capability in reviewing and undertaking engineering analysis as required
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills
• Above average communication abilities
• Proven contractor management/interface experience
• Sound budgeting and planning capacity
OTHER TRAINING:
• Holds a current driver permit suitable for use in Alberta
SAFETY and LOSS PREVENTION:
• Clear and specific understanding of company and regulatory EH&S requirements
• Clear understanding of the role of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management
systems in cold climates
Travel / Other:
• Physically fit and able to travel as required
